Professor of International History at Richmond American University London, Dr Martin D Brown gave a paper at the fifth conference of the network for New Diplomatic History, held recently at the University of Turku, Finland.
The three-day conference, 25-27 May 2023, was dedicated to the study of diplomacy situated: settings, personas, practices.
Dr Brown’s presentation was entitled, ‘“The Whiff of Munich”: Place, memory, and policy’.
He chaired a panel, with Professor Giles Scott-Smith (University of Leiden) as discussant on ‘Concepts and memory of diplomacy’.
The conference dinner included a reception in Turku’s town hall with the Mayor.
